Made Slowly, On Purpose

Four stages, none of them shortened. This is what the extra weeks buy.

Hand embroidery in progress

01

The Cloth

Mulberry silk, silk satin and handloom cotton, sourced in short lengths from mills we have worked with for years. Every roll is inspected under daylight before it is cut.

02

The Drape

Pinned on the stand rather than drafted flat — sometimes for two days — until the cloth settles into the line it wants to hold. Only then is a pattern traced.

03

The Ornament

Zardozi, aari and fine dori work in matte metallic thread. Placement is decided after the drape, so the embroidery follows the body rather than fighting it.

04

The Finish

Hand-rolled hems, covered closures and a final press. Each piece carries the initials of the artisan who completed it on the inner facing.

Care

  • Dry clean only, with a specialist familiar with hand embroidery.
  • Store flat or on a padded hanger, away from direct light.
  • Never press directly over metallic thread — always use a cloth.
  • Air after wearing rather than cleaning after every occasion.
